The Haven Hostel was a great value for the money. The private room we stayed in was cozy, clean, and had a spacious en-suite bathroom. The location was a bit sketchy, but we still felt comfortable both on and off the property. The staff was amazing, giving us clear instructions and showing genuine interest in our travels.
The breakfast offerings could use some improvement, maybe by adding more variety to the options available.

One of the highlights of this hotel is the exceptional staff. Hanuman and Yasmin were both friendly and accommodating, ensuring a pleasant stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with great attention to detail. The large bathroom in the ground floor suite was a luxury. Additionally, the hotel's central location makes it very convenient for exploring downtown Thunder Bay.
Minor improvements could be made in terms of providing toiletries, such as shampoo and conditioner, in the showers. However, overall, everything was ok.

The Haven had a cool and modern vibe, giving it a unique European feel. Our room was comfortable and cozy, with a super comfy bed. We were pleasantly surprised to find little chocolates and information about the hostel left for us in our room. The breakfast offered a variety of options and the common area was fun and welcoming. The staff was friendly and accommodating, even brewing a pot of coffee for us when we woke up late. The hostel was conveniently located near downtown restaurants and was a great base for visiting Sleeping Giant. I highly recommend this hostel.
One drawback was the fixed window conditioner, which prevented us from getting fresh air from the street at night. However, the conditioner was quiet and efficient.

The complementary breakfast had plenty of options to choose from including cereals, oat, milk, coffee, and tea. The kitchen was also well-equipped for cooking, with pots, pans, utensils, oven, and microwave. The location was great, with lots of good restaurants in easy walking distance. Plus, the open concept layout of the hostel made it feel spacious and welcoming.
The noise from other guests in the hostel can be a bit overwhelming. , the air-conditioning system was a bit too loud for my taste, making it difficult to sleep at night.
